There’s a song called stained glass masquerade by christian band casting crowns that the lyrics really resonate with me.
It talks about society’s expectations of being okay all the time and having to hide our pain in order to be accepted. “With a painted grin, to play the part again walls around our weakness, smiles to hide our pain"
Regardless of mental health awareness day and R U okay day held annually every year in Australia, it really got me thinking when I saw the movie Joker last year.
I’ve been a Joaquin Phoenix fan for many years now and although I’ve only seen the movie Joker once at the cinema, it really left me feeling very connected to the story.
Although it took me till the next day to figure it out, I honestly think none of those events happened and I think it was all in his mind. He mentions to his psychologist that all he has is negative thoughts.
