What’s In A Hug
What’s in a hug? A hug is a form of endearment, universal in human communities, in which two or more people put their arms around the neck, back, or the waist of one another and hold each other closely. If more than two people are involved, it may be referred to as a group hug.
So it’s little wonder that since we were all ordered by law to socially distance and isolate away from the life we perceived as normal, for people who like me live on our own, are really feeling the absence of the hug.
At the time we thought this would only last the two weeks of self-isolation often announced on the news whenever there’s an outbreak and we’re suspected of being infected.
Okay, two weeks sounded easy, and nice in a way to get away from the everyday hustle and bustle.
Then it got real, we were in lockdown. Restricted from seeing our family and friends in person and if we were lucky enough to have the technology we found ourselves looking forward to having face time.
Now it’s June and we’re in stage two now in Australia. Restrictions are slowly lifting but it’s also winter and flu season here now and we’re at risk of a second wave of this invisible killer virus.
But the government sees it more important to reopen places of gambling and gyms all with the reiterating of social distancing of course.
